The Kansas City Gorilla Club is a
booster club for Pittsburg State University athletics and other
academics. Members do not have to be alumni or from the Kansas City
area. The only requirement for membership is that you be a "fan" of
Pittsburg State.
The Club was formed in 1992 by a very
small group of former Pittsburg State athletes. Since then the Club
has donated over $80,000 to the Athletic Endowment Fund. The largest
single years donation came in 2006 with $23,000 being donated. An
Executive Committee meets as needed and leads the Club. The
current President is Keith Abram.
Annual membership is $25 for a single
person or $50 for a family. This membership entitles members to eat
and drink FREE at all home football games at the famous pregame
Gorilla Club Tailgate. Just look for the big black cooker in Gorilla
Village east of Carnie Smith Stadium.
To become a member, print and complete
the membership form then return it with your check for dues to the
address on the form. Download the membership form
here.

Annual
Picnic & Auction
Each football
season starts with the Picnic & Auction, held in Kansas City. This
event is usually held two weeks before the first game of the season
and costs $15 per individual to attend the picnic. Volunteers
contact merchants in Pittsburg and Kansas City to solicit items for
the silent and verbal auctions.
This year the event will be held on
Saturday August 23 at 5 PM. The location is the Theme Party
Emporium, located north of I-35 at the Lamar Ave exit in Kansas
City. Plans are being made now for a record setting attendance
and auction. If interested in attending, email Casey Casebolt
and he will forward you more information on this great event.
it is fun and enjoyable and is also the biggest fund-raiser for the
Club each year. Some great items for the silent auction as
well as live auction. Also some great competition among these
Gorillas!
Socials
On designated Wednesday evenings
starting at 6:30pm
during the football season members of the KC Gorilla Club gather for
socials at
Johnny's
Tavern in Shawnee, located at 13410 West 62nd Terrace
(get
directions (Y!). Dates will be announced later. Mingle and visit with
fellow Gorillas and enjoy good food and cold beverages.
Yearly Bus
Trips
The KC
Gorilla Club takes a bus trip to one away football game each season.
The charge varies since it is the cost of the charter bus divided
among the riders, usually about $25 per person, plus the cost of the
game ticket. Food and beverages are also furnished. More
information on this event will follow at a later date.
A bus is also taken to Pittsburg
during the basketball season to see the men and women play. This
trip is on a Saturday and the Club usually eats following the games
at Pichler's Chicken Annie's, on the south of Pittsburg.
