Teamkong was created for the purpose of promoting Pittsburg State University Football and giving its fans an online place to communicate with one another.
Founded at the end of the 2000 football season, the name for the group was suggested by a member, remembering the Sports Illustrated article from the College Football preview in 1993, entitled “Teamkong.” (see SI article picture below)
The daily tasks of maintaining the site are performed by Dr. Wayne Gilmore, a 1993 Pittsburg State graduate. He is also a 1989 graduate of Colgan High School in Pittsburg, KS.
A practicing optometrist with Eyecare Associates of Parsons, KS, Wayne is a Pittsburg, Kansas native who now lives in Parsons, KS with his wife, Tracy and their sons, Luke and Zachary.
TeamKong would like to thank Mattew Hicks for the logo photograph, Malcolm Turner for the band photographs, and Dr. Craig Fuchs for the selections from the band. Most of the photographs in the Gallery were taken by Justin Beasley. Matthew Hicks also has provided game pictures for the Gallery.
Also, each week during the season we are lucky to have Brian Johnston, play-by-play man for the Gorilla Broadcasts, do a weekly column called for Teamkong.
In addition, longtime Teamkonger Mark Willard gives his impressions of each week with his column entitles, A View from the Upper Deck.
New in 2006, Chris Mazzocco will provide weekly previews of our opponent, with Coaches interviews. Also new this year will be our weekly “Kongcast” we weekly podcast hosted by Wayne and Brian.
Teamkong is not affiliated with or owned by Pittsburg State University or D2football.com.
